I have for sale a lot of Pope Gosser Sterling Blue Belle China. This sale is for ONE Covered Casserole with Cover and Two Handles m
arked Pope-Gosser China Made in USA Sterling
The casserole
measures approximately 7-3/8" in diameter and stands 2-5/8" tall without the cover; with the cover on the bowl the height is about 5-1/4" to the top of the knob. It measures about 10" across from handle to handle.
The edge of the casserole bowl has gold gilt trim, the rim edge is lightly scalloped, and 'fork tined', and there is a fantastic floral "Blue Belle" pattern in three circular groupings all around the bowl. Just a break in the pattern where the gold gilt trimmed handles attache to the bowl each side of the bowl. The handles are gold gilt trimmed as is the scalloped and "tined" foot.
It has no repairs, but it does have a small chip on the inner rim; the gold is worn in spots b
ut I don't see any places where the missing gold jumps out at me. There is a good deal of crazing and some light surface scratches in the bowl that may be part of the crazing pattern....and some light general discolorations. There is very light discoloration on the foot but no chips in the scallop.
The cover to the casserole
measures approximately 7-1/4" in diameter on the outside and about 6-1/2" in diameter across the inner rim.....and stands 2-1/2" to the outer rim and 2-3/4" tall to the inner rim.
The edge of the cover has gold gilt trim, the rim edge is lightly scalloped, and 'fork tined'. It is not scalloped along the edge. There is a fantastic floral "Blue Belle" pattern in three circular groupings all around the bowl cover. The knob handle is gold gilt trimmed, also.
It has no chips or repairs, the gold is worn in spots but I don't see any places where the missing gold jumps out at me. There is little to no crazing, scuffs, scratches, or cracks on the lid. If only the whole piece were in this good condition. There is very light discoloration on the foot of the lid, probably from storage.
The Pope-Gosser company originated in 1902 in Ohio and started manufacturing in 1903.
This pattern was discontinued in 1944.
I have
