    Description

For collectors of financial markets/Wall Street ephemera, here's a relic not offered anywhere else: An authentic, original preliminary prospectus for the 1998 initial public offering (IPO) of stock by AboveNet. The stock had not yet been priced by its lead underwriters -- CIBC Oppenheimer and Volpe Brown Whelan & Co. AboveNet sought to "become the leading global Internet Service Exchange for business enterprises and ISPs that require high-bandwidth, mission-critical Internet operations." In fiscal 1998, it posted .4 million in revenue and a net loss of .4 million. The company was led by founder Sherman Tuan as chairman and CEO, Peter C. Chen as vice chairman, Warren J. Kaplan as president and David Rand as CTO. Verizon became a big investor in 2000, as did John Kluge and Craig McCaw later. The company went into bankruptcy in 2002, was discharged in 2003 and was sold to Zayo Group for .2 billion in 2012.
The prospectus is in excellent condition. I am the original owner, having received it from one of the underwriters in 1998. It has 67 main pages and 19 pages of supplemental financial statements.
Shipping is because I will mail it in a bubble-lined envelope, which is rated as a package by the US Postal Service. I will send the buyer a tracking number.
